Darren started off his career as a chemist, working in a local lab testing food samples, and then started brewing beer at home with a homebrew kit. He found himself reading more about beer and became interested in its complexities. He is now Director of Brewing Operations for YDBEVCO in the Okanagan, a BJCP Recognized Judge, and a co-host of the Why This Beer Podcast? He brings a brewer’s practicality and a judge’s precision to every panel
