Recognizing excellence in British Columbia’s craft beer industry.
The British Columbia Beer Awards is an annual competition, hosted by the BC Craft Brewers Guild during BC Craft Beer Month, to recognize excellence in British Columbia’s craft beer industry. Its primary purpose is to evaluate and celebrate the best beers brewed in the province, as judged by certified beer judges across a range of style categories.
The BCBA is both a beer challenge and a public tasting event. Breweries submit entries in advance, which are blind-judged according to BJCP style guidelines. Awards are conferred upon the top three beers in each style category. Recognition is also given to beers considered Best in Show and the Judges’ Choice.
The Awards & Festival
Results of the judging are announced during an awards ceremony held in conjunction with a beer festival. The gala includes food vendors, games, and artisan merchandise. Awards are also given for Brewery of the Year, Rookie of the Year, and a Legend Award for those who have made significant contributions to the craft beer industry in British Columbia.
Awards History
The British Columbia Beer Awards were founded in 2010 during the inaugural Vancouver Craft Beer Week. It became a standalone event during BC Craft Beer Month in 2012. As of 2025, management was assumed by the BC Craft Brewers Guild.
