BC’s #1 craft beer awards ceremony honours outstanding brewing and community achievements.
Recognizing excellence in British Columbia’s craft beer industry.
The British Columbia Beer Awards (BCBA) is an annual celebration of excellence in craft brewing, held in New Westminster—just outside Vancouver. Hosted by the BC Craft Brewers Guild as part of the BC Craft Brewers Conference during BC Craft Beer Month, this event recognizes the best of BC’s craft beer industry.
At its core, BCBA is a province-wide brewery competition judged by certified beer experts across a wide range of styles. The results are revealed live during an industry-focused awards ceremony that also doubles as a lively beer festival, complete with food vendors and games.
While the event is open to the public, it remains a special night for BC’s brewing community—a time to connect, celebrate, and raise a glass to the outstanding talent shaping the province’s craft beer scene.

How The Awards Started
The British Columbia Beer Awards were established in 2010 during the inaugural Vancouver Craft Beer Week and became a standalone event in 2012 as part of BC Craft Beer Month. In 2025, ownership of the event was assumed by the BC Craft Brewers Guild. View the full timeline
How The Awards Work
Breweries submit their entries in advance, which are then blind-judged by certified experts according to BJCP style guidelines. Awards are presented to the top three beers in each style category, with additional honours for Best in Show and Judges’ Choice selections.
Special awards are also presented, including Brewery of the Year, Rookie of the Year, and the Legend Award, which recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to British Columbia’s craft beer industry.

Who Can Enter
2025 BC BEER AWARDS RULES AND REGULATIONS
Participating brewery certifies that it meets ALL the following Brewery Eligibility Criteria:
• Member of the BC Craft Brewers Guild (BCCBG)
OR
• Brewery holds a valid Canadian excise duty license
• Brewery is licensed to brew beer by a provincial authority
• Brewery produced less than 400,000 hectolitres of beer in 2024
• Brewery is at least 75% BC owned
Style Categories
The BC Beer Awards is a blind tasting competition that judges beers based on the 2021 Beer Judge Certification Program Style Guidelines.
